1. Recommended race for healing Priests in PvE

Here are the races we recommend you pick for your Priest for PvE.

Alliance PvE : Dwarf

Forme de pierre : Use this when you’re in danger.
Gardien de peur : Active spell exclusive to dwarves, makes your target (or yourself) immune to the next Fear spell.


Any Alliance raid group will actively be looking for Dwarven Priests for their Fear Wards, whether for PvE or PvP. This is a unique mechanic whose only equivalent is the Shaman’s Tremor Totem. This spell is only necessary for a few fights however.  

L'esprit humain, or Night Elves’ Grâce d'Elune are more generally useful, especially if you already have dwarven priests in your group.

In any case, pick a race that you enjoy playing, not what’s best on paper. Racials don’t change your gameplay much and aren’t going to make you overpowered, this is just for those who want any edge they can get.

2. Recommended Professions for healing Priests

Here are the professions we recommend you pick for your healing Priest for PvE.

Enchanting

Most Priests also pick Enchantement along with Couture for leveling and keep it at level 60. Indeed, having a high level enchanter in a guild is always useful and appreciated, and if you find a rare pattern such as Formule : Enchantement d'arme (Croisé) you will become one of the richest individuals on the server!

Herbalism

Cueillette allows you to gather the plants and herbs required to concoct potions and elixirs essential for high level content.

If you prefer being the queen or king of raw materials, you can instead farm your soul out and earn good money by selling these plants at the Auction Hall, notably the very precious Lotus noir.

Alchemy

Alchimie complements Cueillette and allows you to create potions and elixirs with varying properties : life gain, mana gain, increasing your attack power, spell power…

Alchemists can also transmute things, which is a very valuable skill when you get close to 60, notably Transmutation d'arcanite.

3. Best specs for healing Priests

Depending on the encounter, there is quite a bit of freedom in talent choice. For the purposes of this guide, we will focus on giving you a solid « basic » spec, with the reasoning behind certain choices, that you can then adapt to your needs. You will also find other archetypes in this guide. The main issue with Holy & Discipline Priest, as for almost all the classes that use mana, is mana regeneration.

Even if you strictly follow the recommended rotations, you will always have to use your wand at times in order to get some mana back. Even during the last phases of the game, mana regen will remain a priority.

You will notice that we’re using talents like Méditation or Sagacité to help with this. Esprit divin gives you another source of spirit gain which will come in handy. Nova sacrée gives you instant group healing, very useful for emergencies.

The most proven healing priest talent build for PvE. Very polyvalent, it can fill all your needs without forcing you to think about adapting too hard. This is our basis for “alternative” builds.

4.1. Rotation: single-target healing

Whether assigned to heal the tank or keep other friendlies alive, Priests have a large array of single-target healing spells they can use.

  1. For longer fights, Soins should be your main spell. Its mana efficiency allows you to maintain a good mana pool during the fight, giving you leave to use faster or more powerful healing spells when needed.
  2. Constantly keep Rénovation up on important targets that will be taking damage during the fight. We recommend using lower ranks on people who get targeted by random mechanics and keep max rank on tanks. Don’t reapply it too early or you will waste ticks.  
  3. Use Mot de pouvoir : Bouclier on targets that will take consistent damage. This will lower the amount of damage taken, which means you won’t have to use more mana to heal this damage, and it allows your fellow healers can focus on other things. If your target is taking severe predictable damage, use Soins supérieurs to restore a large portion of their Health. Avoid using this spell on tanks because they need the rage to keep aggro.
  4. Only use Soins rapides when the lower cast time could be the difference between life and death. This is an expensive spell that will empty your mana pool if you use it too much (and you also risk overhealing).

5. Downranking

Downranking means using lower ranks of spells to save some mana, or adapt your healing/damage depending on your target.

Very used at every level of the game, how you downrank also depends on your gear. This trick allows you to not go oom while staying as effective as possible.

6. Stats Priority for healing Priests for PvE

Here is the stats priority to optimize your healing Priest for PvE content.

Stats Priority

  1. Bonus Healing

  4. Intelligence

BONUS HEALING: Your most valuable stat. Your bonus heealing doesn’t just increase how powerful your healing spells are, but also indirectly helps with mana because it allows you to downrank more. Generally, if an item gives more bonus healing, it’s a better item.

SPIRIT: Very useful stat. Most priests will have Méditation for additional regen during fights and Direction spirituelle for more bonus healing equivalent to 25% of your spirit which, once again, allows you to downrank more and save even more mana.

MP5 (Mana par 5 secondes): Very comfortable stat, but it’s not worth losing bonus healing for it.

INTELLIGENCE: Intelligence isn’t a stat you should be targeting outside of leveling, you will gain some naturally. 59 Intelligence also gives 1% critical strike chance, but you would need enormous amounts of Intelligence for this to mater, and it’d mean losing Bonus Healing, which is very bad.

SPELL CRIT: This stat is simply a bonus, you should never target it. It helps Inspiration, but most items that have spell crit won’t have bonus healing. Give these to Mages or Warlocks instead.

STAMINA: Another stat you shouldn’t really consider. Having a lot of life helps you survive but this comes naturally with item progression.

7. Consumables for high level PvE

Consumables are extremely important for healing priests in order to be properly prepared for raids. Alchemy as well as Cooking can help your raid a lot; don’t hesitate to follow our leveling guides for these professions.
